Christmas Parade kicks off Winterfest with bands, floats fly overs and Santa Claus

The Vista Christmas Parade will include marching bands, floats and Santa Claus at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008. The parade theme is "I'm Dreaming of a Green Christmas" to bring an added focus to taking care of our planet and Environmental issues. The parade is organized by the Chamber with major funding from the City of Vista.
The parade will include about 70 entries, including six marching bands. There will be a fly over at 1:30 p.m. Nearly 10,000 spectators are expected. The parade route will be the same as recent years, starting at the corner of Pala Vista Drive and South Santa Fe Avenue, proceeding north on Santa Fe to Main Street, turning right to Citrus Avenue, right on Citrus and ending at Broadway.
Linda Strand Announced as Grand Marshall
for the Annual Christmas Parade!
The Vista Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Ms. Linda Strand has been named as the Grand Marshall of the 2008 Chamber Christmas parade. Ms. Strand was recently named as the 2008 National Association of Women Business Owners as the recipient of San Diego's "2008 Green Community Award". This award recognizes environmental achievements, business leadership and community involvement. The Chamber is excited and proud to have Ms. Strand as our Grand Marshall. Ms. Strands' selection as Grand Marshall is in keeping with the theme of this years' Christmas parade : "I'm Dreaming of a Green Christmas". Ms. Strand is a long time Vista businesswoman. She is the Founder and CEO of "Independent Energy Solutions", one of the premier solar energy companies in California.

DIRECTIONS FOR SPECTATORS: From Highway 78, exit at Vista Village Drive, turn north about one-half mile and park at Vista Village Center on your right or in the vacant lot at corner of Vista Village Drive and Indiana Avenue.

DIRECTIONS FOR PARADE PARTICIPANTS: Check in at the corner of Guajome Street and Mercantile Avenue between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Directions from Highway 78: exit at Vista Village Drive, turn north about one-half mile, turn right at S. Santa Fe, proceed about half mile, turn right at Guajome, turn left at first street, which is Mercantile. Pull ahead to check-in tent.
