Workforce/Education Committee Tours Watkins Wellness to Learn About Workforce Needs

This past Wednesday, November 19, members of our Workforce/Education Committee had the opportunity to tour Watkins Wellness Manufacturing, one of Vista’s largest and most influential employers. The visit offered a behind-the-scenes look at their impressive manufacturing operations while opening the door to meaningful conversations about local workforce needs, career pathways, and opportunities for collaboration with our education partners.

Watkins Wellness has been part of the Vista community since 1977, when the company built its very first Hot Spring® spa. Today, they are proudly headquartered right here in our city, employing more than 700 people locally and between 2,600 and 3,000 worldwide. Their long-standing presence in Vista not only boosts our local economy but also creates strong, sustainable career opportunities for residents who want to build their future close to home.

During the tour, Watkins shared insights about their current and future workforce needs, from skilled manufacturing roles to opportunities in engineering, logistics, and administrative functions. These conversations sparked valuable connections between the company and leaders from local educational institutions, reinforcing the importance of aligning workplace expectations with student preparation and training. As the workforce landscape continues to evolve, partnerships like these play a crucial role in building a strong talent pipeline for the region.

Beyond their economic impact, Watkins Wellness is deeply invested in supporting local youth and community programs. They are a dedicated Presenting Sponsor of our Rising Star of the Month program, helping us celebrate and award scholarships to high school seniors who demonstrate character, resilience, and leadership. Their support ensures we can continue recognizing outstanding students and connecting them with resources and opportunities for their next steps.

Watkins also gives back to other local nonprofit and youth-serving organizations, including the Boys & Girls Club of Vista. Their commitment to community involvement underscores their belief in strengthening the future workforce by uplifting young people today, a philosophy that aligns perfectly with the mission of our Workforce/Education Committee.

We’re grateful to Watkins Wellness for opening their doors, sharing their vision, and continuing to be such a strong partner in the Vista community.

If you’d like to be part of our Workforce/Education Committee and help advance initiatives that support students, job seekers, and employers across the region, we’d love to have you join us. Reach out to Workforce Coordinator Koko Rapoport at workforce@vistachamber.org to get involved.
