Investing in Vista’s Future: How the Boys & Girls Club of Vista is Empowering the Next Generation

Boys and Girls Club (1)

For more than 60 years, the Boys & Girls Club of Vista has been a place where young people can learn, grow, and thrive. Since opening its doors in 1963, the organization has remained committed to providing a safe, supportive environment where every child has the opportunity to discover their potential and build a bright future.

Today, that mission is more important than ever.

The Boys & Girls Club of Vista exists to empower every Club member through safe, impactful experiences that prepare them to graduate high school with a plan for college or a career, contribute to their community, and live a healthy life. In 2025 alone, the Club served more than 2,200 local youth, a 10% increase from the previous year, demonstrating both the organization's impact and the growing need for its services.

A Place Where Every Child Belongs

At the heart of the Boys & Girls Club of Vista is a simple philosophy: The Club is for all kids—come as you are.

The organization provides affordable, high-quality after-school and summer programming that gives children a safe place to spend time when school is out while giving working parents peace of mind.

"We take the worry out of working parents when school is out," the team shares. "Kids may only be 30% of our population, but they are 100% of our future. They are the best investment you can ever make to ensure a great future."

By removing barriers to participation, the Club ensures that every child has access to opportunities that help them succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

Supporting the Whole Child

The Boys & Girls Club of Vista offers programs that focus on every aspect of a child's development. Activities are designed around five key areas:

  • Basic Needs & Supportive Communities
  • Academic Success
  • Leadership & Workforce Development
  • Healthy & Active Lifestyles
  • Creative Development

Whether children are participating in recreational sports, exploring STEM activities, learning to cook, taking music lessons, recording music, developing leadership skills, or preparing for future careers, every program is designed to help young people build confidence, discover new interests, and develop lifelong skills.

Removing Barriers for Families

One of the organization's greatest strengths is its commitment to ensuring that financial circumstances never prevent a child from participating.

Today, 73% of Club families receive financial assistance, allowing children to attend programs regardless of their family's ability to pay.

In 2025, the Boys & Girls Club of Vista distributed more than $90,000 in financial assistance while serving over 87,000 healthy meals to Club members. Recognizing that many families face challenges beyond after-school care, the organization also provides transportation, school supplies, and referrals to community partners offering services such as healthcare, dental care, housing assistance, and other essential resources.

The Club actively works with schools, nonprofit organizations, and community partners to reach families who may benefit most from these services.

Expanding Opportunities Throughout Vista

As the needs of local families continue to grow, so does the Boys & Girls Club of Vista.

For more than a decade, the organization has partnered with Vista Unified School District to operate middle school sports programs, serving approximately 600 student-athletes each year.

In 2024, the Club expanded its impact by launching before- and after-school programs at Bella Mente Montessori Academy, providing additional support for working families.

Most recently, in June 2026, the organization celebrated the opening of the Sahm Family Foundation Sports Complex, creating even more opportunities for affordable sports programming, outdoor education, and healthy recreation for local youth.

These investments ensure that more children have access to safe places where they can stay active, build friendships, and develop important life skills.

A Community Effort

The Boys & Girls Club of Vista's success is made possible through the generosity of community members, businesses, volunteers, and sponsors who believe in investing in the next generation.

As demand for services continues to increase, the organization remains committed to its promise that no child will ever be turned away because of financial hardship.

To help sustain that commitment, the Club is currently seeking sponsors to support the new Sahm Family Foundation Sports Complex and invites the community to participate in upcoming fundraising events, including the Golf Tournament on Friday, September 18, at The Links and the 2027 Boys & Girls Club of Vista Gala on March 6, 2027.
