Vista Chamber Foundation

Mission & Purpose Statement
The Vista Chamber Foundation is organized specifically to support workforce development, educational opportunities, and community enrichment to strengthen Vista's future.
About the Vista Chamber Foundation
The Vista Chamber Foundation is dedicated to fostering our youth through workforce development programs. These programs are made possible through partnerships and the generosity of our members. With these programs we focus on providing students the tools necessary for their future.
Rising Star of the Month Program
The Mission of the Rising Star of the Month Program is to bring the community together to honor our local high school seniors for demonstrating character, integrity, love of learning, involvement in school and community activities and/or the ability to overcome challenging life circumstances without compromising their education. The core of the Rising Star of the Month is the student who makes a difference in their home, school and community with sincerity and passion.
Every month, from September to April, 6 students from our local high schools and continuation schools are recognized at a breakfast ceremony. All 48 students are invited to apply to receive a scholarship during our Rising Star of the Year Ceremony. Last year we were able to award over $60,000 thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and partners!
Velocity Summer Internship Program
The Velocity Summer Internship Program is a program dedicated to partnering local high school students with local companies based on the students' career interests for 100 hours of paid internship. The Velocity Summer Student Internship Program is a partnership with the Vista Unified School District.

The Velocity Summer Internship Program was established in 2022 and over the past 4 years, over 200 students have been paired with local businesses to explore their career interests. Student participants have just finished their junior year and entering their senior year, perfect to explore their career interests before applying for colleges.
Civics Bee
The Vista Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to host a nonpartisan civics competition that encourages young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their communities. Participating 6th, 7th and 8th graders will flex their civics knowledge for a chance to win recognition and cash prizes.

The Vista Chamber of Commerce is participating in the National Civics Bee because we believe that informed and active citizens make for a strong country, a strong economy, and a strong workforce, and that our continued prosperity depends on the strength of all three. Through the Bee, we are promoting greater civic knowledge in California and celebrating our civic pride.
SOCAL
Student Opportunities for Career Awareness and Learning (SOCAL)Â drives economic empowerment by elevating student awareness of career and educational opportunities across multiple industries and provides a forum for students to take meaningful steps towards participation in the workforce of tomorrow.
SOCAL is a collaborative program between education and industry created by Tri-City Medical Center, the San Diego North Economic Development Council and Carlsbad, Oceanside and Vista Chambers of Commerce. The vision is to give middle school, high school, post-secondary students and transitioning adults an opportunity to gain insights into career pathways, while allowing businesses and local organizations to participate in these students’ career exploration.
